FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

Floor Preparation – Stripping

Q: Do we need to remove all of the old wax or finish?

Yes – Wax that is left on the floor will be visible after applying ETS 180.  If there are visible shiny areas on the floor, there’s still wax that needs to be removed.  Pay attention to the corners, baseboards and doorways.

Q. Is rinsing with water multiple times to reach pH 7 really needed?

Yes – any remaining stripper or cleaner on the floor will show a higher pH and can cause adhesion problems with ETS 180.

Application

Q. Why does my facility need application training?

Successful applications of ETS 180 involve three important steps.  Floor preparation, mixing and applying the product.  Teaching your team the importance of floor preparation, along with the proper mixing and application techniques, will help avoid costly errors.

Q: If we don’t use the entire kit, can the remaining product be used later?

ETS 180 is mixed at the project site and has a pot life of app. 50 minutes. If there is product left over, it should be properly discarded.

Maintenance

Q: My floor was recently coated with ETS 180 and it appears to be dull or cloudy. How can I bring back the shine? Should I buff the floor?

Most finishes are somewhat porous, allowing cleaners to be absorbed into the finish.  ETS 180 is not porous, and over time a thin film or residue from cleaning chemicals can build up on the surface causing a cloudy or dull appearance.  To fix this, simply clean with warm water once or twice with a microfiber flat mop.  This will lift the chemical residue and restore the floor to its shiny appearance.  NEVER buff or burnish your coated floor as it will cause permanent damage

Durability

Q: How long with ETS 180 last?

ETS 180 is used as a replacement to acrylic waxes. Generally speaking, ETS 180 will last 10X longer than a traditional finish applied in the same location. If you typically apply an acrylic wax that needs to be addressed every 3 months, ETS 180 will last 30 months in the same location.

Q: I’ve heard urethane finishes yellow over time. Is this true?

Past versions of urethane were notorious for yellowing. With the advancement of urethane technology that issue has been resolved. ETS 180 has UV inhibitors built in and it will not yellow.

Q: Will this coating scratch?

All floor coatings can scratch. Although ETS 180 is harder than wax, in order to protect your floor from scratches, we recommend installing floor protectors on chair legs and other furniture.

Q: Is this coating chemical resistant?

ETS 180 is resistant to a number of chemicals, including Iodine, Betadine, Silver Nitrate, urine, bleach, salt and alcohol hand sanitizers.
